VerdiPTA is purified terephthalic acid recovered from the worst multi-layer plastic, mixed textiles, and coloured PET - torn, soiled, headed for landfill. Validated in our pilot. Polymerised to yarn-grade on the first attempt. On the roadmap to commercial scale.
PTA is the molecular backbone of polyester. Almost all of it today comes from fossil fuel feedstocks. Brands chasing 2030 recycled-content targets cannot find PTA from recycled streams that meets virgin-grade specs.
We built VerdiPTA to close that gap. Same molecule. Different source. Cleaner than industrial-grade virgin.
VerdiPTA is purified terephthalic acid extracted using our patented chemo-mechanical process at 100 - 130°C and 1-2 ATM, not 500°C like pyrolysis. Water-based. No organic solvents. Residual material becomes VerdiMIX - zero waste out.
The same reactor that processes multi-layer plastic also processes mixed textiles and coloured PET. One platform. Multiple feedstocks. Patented purification tech that does not use recrystallisation.
| Parameter | Virgin PTA (petrochemical) | VerdiPTA |
|---|---|---|
| Purity | Industry standard | Matches virgin |
| 4-CBA (critical impurity) | 15 - 25 ppm | BDL (Below Detection Limit) |
| p-Toluic acid | 100 - 170 ppm | Below virgin |
4-CBA impurity, in parts per million. Lower is better. 4-CBA is the impurity that caps polymer chain length during polymerisation.
Each grade is engineered for a specific feedstock and downstream application. None are commercially available at scale yet. We are actively building development partnerships for joint validation, pilot offtake, and commercial scale-up.
Drop-in chemistry. Same downstream processing as virgin PTA. No retooling.
Most brands cannot find recycled PTA that meets virgin-grade specs. VerdiPTA is engineered to fill that gap. Traceable. Independently tested. Recovered from waste streams with nowhere else to go.
